Story

My name is Astrid. I am 13 years old and am fundraising for Small Steps. Using their 2.6 challenge, I came up with the idea of walking up and down my staircase 260 times in one day. I am doing this as part of my volunteering for Duke Of Edinburgh, and I chose Small Steps as my charity because my cousin, Joseph, was born with severe disabilities, and Small Steps really helped him in his early years.

During the challenge, I will regularly update anyone who wishes to follow me along my journey by uploading short videos and blogs of my progress. I chose to climb my stairs 260 times because people do not realise how difficult life can be without the ability to use stairs. This will have affected disabled people by forcing to miss out on things we don't, not being able to go to everyday places like the underground, public toilets, shops without ramps and public buildings with no lifts.

Small Steps is really about providing a space where these children and their families have people who empathise with them, who have been through what they are going through. It is an amazing cause and I hope you will join me in helping this charity. To see the videos/blogs of updates, make sure to follow my instagram account for it: @bigstepsforsmallsteps !!
